Lidded pot, blue tulips
A round lidded pot, painted with blue tulips and a run of blue dashes round the foot.
From the collection
One of one · Nº 9
Thrown round and full, with a lid that sits down into a gallery of its own and a small notch cut into the rim, the sort you leave for the handle of a spoon.
The tulips are the same naïve, freehand painting as the folk tulip vase, done in blue this time: a cupped flower on a dark green stem, two leaves crossing beneath it, and a run of blue dashes round the foot like the trim on a plate. The lid gets a tulip of its own, laid on its side inside a ring of the same dashes.
The brush wobbles where a brush should, and no two flowers on it are quite the same size.
