A pair, thrown together and glazed together, which is the only reason they match as closely as they do.
The glaze goes on in bands: a dark olive-brown at the rim, then a scatter of blue where it breaks over the white, then a long speckled fall towards the foot. The bottom third is left raw, bare warm clay, which is the part your hand finds.
Inside, plain white, so you can see what you are drinking. The handles are pulled and set by hand, so one sits a little differently in the fingers than the other. That is the pair being a pair, rather than a matched set.
