The rim is the whole point: pinched and pushed into a frill while the clay was still soft, so it runs in soft waves the whole way round and no two waves are quite the same width.
Dipped rim-down in a poppy red that pools thick along the frill and thins to almost nothing where it climbs the inside, leaving a pale blush where the two meet. Inside, a warm speckled cream, finely streaked where the glaze ran down towards the well.
Below the red the stoneware is left bare, pale, and freckled all over with iron. Stamped underneath.
